The Garden of Eden

Now that the world is made
According to God’s plan
Why not let’s take a trip
Through this beautiful land.

Here’s a garden fresh and new –
A place of much, much fame.
Here’s the birthplace of all mankind
And Eden is its name.

As we step inside to look around
The first thing that we see
Is a man that God called Adam.
He was much like you and me.

In God’s own image Adam was made –
He was the very first man.
He was patterned after God Himself
And made by God’s own hand.

As we travel farther along
What else do we see?
Why there’s mountains, rivers, valleys,
And oh yes, a very special tree.

The Tree of Knowledge was its name
And its beauty was not hidden.
Adam was allowed to look at it
But to eat its fruit was forbidden.

Of all the jobs that Adam did,
He did one very, very well.
He named every single animal
From the antelope to the whale.

Rabbits were called rabbits
And birds were called birds.
He named every creature
With such appropriate words.

One day Adam looked around
And to his surprise he saw
That every animal had a mate
Almost as if it were law.

This made Adam very sad,
His joy just disappeared.
Here he was without a mate
And loneliness now he feared.

When God saw Adam in such a state
He devised a wonderful plan.
He decided right then and there
To make woman to go with man.

He caused Adam to fall asleep
So deep as not to wake.
Then he gently reached inside
Because a rib he did take.

So there lay Adam still asleep,
And this he’d ne’er believe –
From his missing rib God made
A woman He named Eve.

Adam was happy and so was Eve –
What a lucky pair,
To live in a wonderful place like this –
Nothing but happiness there.

Then one day Evil came
In the form of a snake.
His name was Satan, a sinful one
And problems he did make.

He tempted Eve up in a tree
To do what she should not.
Forbidden fruit she then did eat
And trouble’s what she got.

She told Adam to take a bite
And yes that’s what he did.
And then they knew they both had sinned
And quickly from God they hid.

So mad was God on that day
He decided to punish them.
So out of the garden He made them go
For not obeying Him.

Poor Adam, poor Eve, what a shame –
Now they’re all alone.
Happiness was once all theirs
But for sin it’s now all gone.

And what about God, how’d He feel –
Of course He was so sad.
It hurt Him too to punish them
For doing the wrong they had.

From that day on, God promised us
That He would save mankind
And we should thank Him everyday
That He did not change His mind.

He sent His son, Jesus Chris
Who died up on the cross.
He loved Him yes, but loves us too
And for this He suffered the loss.

So when we sin remember this –
Forgiveness has a price,
But it was paid long ago
On a cross by Jesus Christ.
